Mech For Review: Obelis

Health levels: 4 (1150)
A light weight for assault mechs, it still has more than enough health though to take severe punishment and roll away from it like a champ, using it’s speed to make it safely out of combat situations.

Speed: 4
With a base ground speed equivalent of most medium mechs base ground speed, this mech will more than be able to outrun and escape most assault and heavy mechs in existance, save for those mounted with strife jets or warp, or it’s lighter cousin the Gargoyle.

Flight capability: 2
Ironicly, for a wheeled assault mech, this mech is capable of mounting jump jets and has a base jump heat of 50, par with most assault mechs too. This enables it to leap onto short buildings, and Jump jet it’s way onto of medium sized buildings, enabling it to have slightly better mobility than most of it’s treaded cousins.

Hitbox Size: 2
While it’s hitbox is not completely abysmal, it is rather horrendous, the wide diameter of the tires providing a huge area with which to target, but little that actually registers hits on the mech. From the front, aim bellow the first row of glowing prims and between the tires, while from the side just barely behind the center of the of the mech lies the hitbox.

Weapons that come with: Gatling Laser Assault

Gatling Laser Assault:
Equip slot: Left and Right Arm
Damage level: 3 (12 damage, 3 shots)
ammo: 5 (unlimited)
range: 3 (80 ish meters)
Projectile type: Physical, Prim
Projectile speed: 3
fire rate: 5 (Three shot burst, under half second refire time)
Heat generation: 5 (Not noticable even with no heatsinks)
Ease of aim: 3 (Three shots with slight spread, at least one normally hits if aimed right)
Special: None
Hardmounted: No
Splash Size: 0 (None)
Personal notes: Essentially larger, heavier hitting Gatling lasers, these weapons have all the same spammy uses while doing slightly more damage. At 12 damage a bullet, the pace will quickly build if you stand next to your opponnent and just fire into them. However, your opponent is normally moving, and you are too, so these arm weapons are generally best replaced by having heavier hitting weapons in their place. Great for shooting down incomming projectiles, it serves little other purpose than eating up sim prims.

Overall review
All in all, this mech is a sound platform, with decent health for an assault mech and a fast speed for the same category, it can outmaneuver most assault mechs, and punish their health at the same exact time.
While it is an awesome base mech, it is sadly outdone by most of it’s treaded assault cousins, most comming with better Stock weapons, better heat effeciency, and better health. The only bonus this mech has over the others, is the fact it can jump and can use JJ’s, making it slightly more mobile on the maps with vertical elevation to use.
All in all, an awesome mech by any short ammount, it is sadly outclassed, and generally not used. I would recommend it as a base platform when you can’t afford the arx or the elect, but otherwise stick with the newer mechs.
