Mech For Review: Knight

Health levels: 2 (700)
A definate paper mache mech in the world of heavy hitting weapons that populate MCM, this mech cannot take any form of sustained fire.

Speed: 5
With run, speed perks, and daac capability, this mech can outrun many light and medium mechs, and even keep pace with some warpers and flying mechs.

Flight capability: 4
A full burn of Standard JJ fuel will bring you dangerously close to the cieling prim, but leave you un-able to touch it, making this mech fairly light for a medium. In addition, with carefull pulsing of the jump jets, about a three to five second hover can be achieved depending on the lag.

Hitbox Size: 4
Even though it’s a tiny mech, the Avatar seems to fit inside of it well with it’s default weaponry and equipment, making me apply the thumbs up to its hit box.

Weapons that come with: Shock Lance, Thermal Cannon

Shock Lance:
Equip slot: Left and Right Arm
Damage level: 2 (23 damage)
ammo: 5 (none)
range: 1 (about a ten meter range despite what the prims appear)
Projectile type: Beam
Projectile speed: Instant
fire rate: 3 (Once about every three quarters of a second)
Heat generation: 3.5 (Constant fire without heatsinks results in a slow, but steady heat generation)
Ease of aim: 4 (Creates a wide, funnel shapped laser that fires from the outside of your mech inwards, making for easy trapping at close range)
Special: Fires from the far edges of your mech, and is angled inwards so the beams intersect about ten meters from you.
Hardmounted: No
Splash Size: 0, None
Personal notes: This weapon is the precursor of the riot guns, and can be considered the smaller cousin of it. With a slightly shorter range, quicker refire, and less damage, these weapons are nifty, but easily outclassed by it’s newer replacement, the Riot Guns. Still a fun and dis-orienting weapon to use on people, don’t expect to win any fights with it, and instead use it to laugh and watch your opponents freak out as their entire screen is covered with the large blue funnel of the laser at close range.

Thermal Cannon:
Equip slot: Left and Right Arm
Damage level: 2 (18 damage)
ammo: 4 (150 ammo)
range: 5 (Appear to be cross sim capable)
Projectile type: Physical, Projectile
Projectile speed: 4
fire rate: 3 (About a three quarter second pause between refires)
Heat generation: 4 (When fired repeatedly without heatsinks, heat is barely generated, and easily controlled with any amount of heatsinks)
Ease of aim: 3 (Moderatly fast projectile with decently sized prim, arc causes some issues at longer ranges)
Special: Upon impact bullets cause a miniscule amount of heat on target.
Hardmounted: No
Splash Size: 0, none.
Personal notes: These weapons seem to behave exactly like a slightly different varient of a the renowned peregrines. With the same cross sime capability, almost identical damage, and the same ammo count, only real differences are in the fine writeing. The Thermal Cannons Arc slowly over range while the Peregrines fire perfectly straight. What make these special though is the fact that they generate heat in the target upon impact. However, this heat seems neglible at best, and even light mechs with a small amount of heatsinks weren’t bothered by it due to such low heat generated. Definately a cool weapon, but should be replaced.

Overall review
All in all, this mech is rather lack luster with it’s default weapons despite being an amazing build. Short of that though, if perked correctly, this is a hit and run mech of the highest degree, capable of run speeds on the ground quick enough to prevent even warps from escaping for more than a few seconds. Put on some Beam lasers (My personal favorite were Advanced Large lasers on the arms and Pec Large Lasers), a Daac, and some JJ’s, and go hunt other light and medium mechs while giving them little chance to dodge your incoming fire and to escape. It can even be used to succesfully hunt some heavier mechs too if employed properly.
All in all, I have to give this mech my thumbs up. It’s a very awesome looking build, gives you a couple of odd ball off the wall (As in crazy, not litterally off the weapon wall) omni mount weapons to play with, and is a great base platform for harrasser setups if you have the money to spare for it.
